Farming is a rich tradition that runs deep in Wisconsin. Whether it’s, milk, cheese, cranberries, or any other of Wisconsin’s fine agricultural products, we have many reasons to be proud. In order to allow this industry to succeed, I support ensuring the federal government takes a minimalist approach to farm policy. However, there are important issues that Congress and the farming community must work together on, including farm consolidation, an aging workforce, and access to affordable land. Further, we must continue balancing worker demands, labor rules, and environmental regulations to foster farmers' ability to grow and succeed. On top of these domestic priorities, we must work to ensure American farmers competing in a global economy do so on a level playing field.
