Sensenbrenner Applauds Grant Award
Nov 1, 2006 -
Menomonee Falls Representative Jim Sensenbrenner announced that he is the recipient of the ‘Hero of the Taxpayer’ award, issued by one of America’s leading taxpayer advocacy organizations, Americans for Tax Reform (ATR). As a result of his 95% rating for votes he cast in 2005 on behalf of taxpayers, Congressman Sensenbrenner was honored and presented with this award by ATR President Grover Norquist during a ceremony in the US Capitol.
“These key votes were the most critical for taxpayers in the first session of the 109th Congress,” said Norquist. “Looking at these votes, taxpayers back home can tell if they have a friend or an enemy in Washington. As far as Jim Sensenbrenner is concerned, they have a friend.”
Issues rated by ATR this year included votes on free trade, spending control, and property rights. To further protect taxpayers, ATR also double rated a vote relative to the Central American Free Trade Agreement, which opened new markets for US goods, and removed tariffs and barriers on exports.
“As Wisconsin - and our nation’s - economic situation has improved over the year, I have heard from many of my constituents who have been able to keep more of their hard-earned money because of legislation passed by Congress,” said Sensenbrenner. “It is an honor to be recognized by ATR, for this award shows that I respond to voter concerns about high taxes, and reflects my commitment to them.”
