Sensenbrenner Applauds Grant Award for North Shore Fire Department
Nov 16, 2006 -
Menomonee Falls Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner is pleased to announce that the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG) has allocated the North Shore Fire Department an award in the amount of $208,518.
The AFG provides direct grants to local fire departments for the purpose of supporting operations and safety, training, firefighter health and vehicle acquisition. The North Shore Fire Department, located in Brown Deer, will use this money to update its radio systems to facilitate communications with other fire stations.
“This is excellent news for the North Shore Fire Department, and for the people in surrounding areas,” said Sensenbrenner in reference to the grant award. “With this money, and ensuing upgrades, the fire department will be able to more effectively respond to emergencies, particularly in those situations that require a coordinated effort by multiple stations.”
“Having survived a house fire of my own years ago, I have a great deal of respect and appreciation for the service these brave men and women provide each time their alarm sounds,” Sensenbrenner concluded.
