Washington, DC, Dec 22, 2006 -  Menomonee Falls Representative F. James Sensenbrenner, Jr., issued the following statement upon learning of the Navy’s decision to name Milwaukee as the host city for the commissioning of a new Navy warship next summer:

“Secretary Winter’s decision to name Milwaukee as the host city for the commissioning of the new Navy warship Freedom next summer is a feather in our state’s cap.

This ship was built in Wisconsin, and it’s only right that it be commissioned here, so that people all over the state can come together to take part in the celebrations next year.  It will be at this event that the Freedom will earn the designation United States Ship.

I know other cities were competing for this privilege, which is why I was pleased to work with County Executive Scott Walker and assist in the efforts to bring this event here in Milwaukee.”
