Sensenbrenner Announces 5th District Nominees to the US Service Academies

Brookfield, WI – Congressman F. James Sensenbrenner, Jr. (R-Menomonee Falls) announced today that twenty seven students from Wisconsin’s Fifth Congressional District have received nominations to the US Service Academies.  

Nominees for the United States Service Academies were chosen from an impressive group of applicants residing throughout Wisconsin’s Fifth Congressional District.  Each applicant endured a rigorous application process culminating in a personal interview with a member of Congressman Sensenbrenner’s Academy Selection Committee.

Of the twenty seven students, four have been named principal nominees.  If the principal nominee meets the academic, physical, and medical standards set by the academy, they are assured an offer of appointment to the academy.  If the principal nominee does not qualify or chooses not to attend, the alternates compete for the vacancy.  Alternates are also part of a pool of applicants from which the academies will choose their incoming class.

Principal Nominees:

Katie Goodwin of Watertown has been named a principal nominee to attend the US Military Academy in West Point, NY.  Katie, whose guardians are Brent and Diane Biddle, attends Maranatha Baptist University.  She is also a member of the Wisconsin National Guard.

Matthew Hundt of Lake Mills has been named a principal nominee to attend the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.  He has also been nominated to attend the US Military Academy in West Point, NY, and the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.  Matthew, the son of Daniel and Ann Hundt, is a senior at Lake Mills High School.

Ashlyn Paulson of Sussex has been named a principal nominee to attend the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.  She has also been nominated to attend the US Military Academy in West Point, NY.  Ashlyn, the daughter of Charles and Susan Paulson, is a senior at Sussex Hamilton High School.

Preston Pritchard of Ixonia has been named a principal nominee to attend the US Military Academy in West Point, NY.  Preston, the son of David and Debra Pritchard, is a senior at Watertown High School.

Competing Alternate Nominees from Jefferson County:

Jon Kaiser of Sullivan has been nominated to attend the US Military Academy in West Point, NY.  Jon, the son of Troy and Tamorah Kaiser is a senior at Jefferson High School.

James Nachtigal of Fort Atkinson has been nominated to attend the US Military Academy in West Point, NY.  James, the son of Terry and Julie Nachtigal is a senior at Fort Atkinson High School.

Competing Alternate Nominee from Milwaukee County:

John Serrano of Wauwatosa has been nominated to attend the US Military Academy in West Point, NY.  John, the son of Aurelio and Mary Serrano, is a senior at Wauwatosa East High School.

Competing Alternate Nominees from Washington County:

Ian Airaudi of West Bend has been nominated to attend the US Military Academy in West Point, NY.  Ian, the son of Kevin and Nikki Airaudi, is a graduate of Kewaskum High School, and is a PFC in the US Army stationed at Camp Casey in South Korea.

has been nominated to attend the US Military Academy in West Point, NY.  Andrew, the son of Corey Buelow and Linda Williams, is a senior at Kewaskum High School.

Owen Gluck of West Bend has been nominated to attend the US Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY.  Owen, the son of Scott and Tama Gluck, is a senior at West Bend East High School.

Alexander Kent of West Bend has been nominated to attend the US Military Academy in West Point, NY, the US Naval Academy in Annapolis MD, and the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.  Alexander, the son of Dale and Colleen Kent, is a senior at Marquette University High School.

Jordan Sylvester of Hubertus
has been nominated to attend the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, and the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.  Jordan, the son of Benji and Terese Sylvester, is a senior at Marquette University High School.

Joseph Bergren of Hartland has been nominated to attend the US Military Academy in West Point, NY.  Joseph, the son of Michael Bergren and Michelle Foti, is a senior at Arrowhead High School.

Liam Brodie of Delafield has been nominated to attend the US Military Academy in West Point, NY, and the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.  Liam, the son of Jonathan Brodie and Raina Hollenbaugh, is a senior at Arrowhead High School.

Maria Carter of Oconomowoc has been nominated to attend the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.  Maria, the daughter of Paul and Angelique Carter, is a senior at Oconomowoc High School.

Augustine DeMeulenaere of Brookfield has been nominated to attend the US Military Academy in West Point, NY, and the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.  Gus, the son of Christopher and Ann DeMeulenaere, is a senior at Marquette University High School.

John Fredericks of Waukesha has been nominated to attend the US Military Academy in West Point, NY, and the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.  John, the son of John Fredericks and Amelia Frankum, is a senior at Waukesha South High School.

Eric Hilgendorf of Hartland has been nominated to attend the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.  Eric, the son of Steven and Anamarie Hilgendorf, is a senior at University School of Milwaukee.

Samuel Huskisson of Delafield has been nominated to attend the US Military Academy in West Point, NY.  Sam, the son of John and Dee Huskisson, is a senior at Kettle Moraine High School.

Austin Kane of Brookfield has been nominated to attend the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.  Austin, the son of Scott and Roxanne Kane, is a senior at Catholic Memorial High School.

Connor Lewis of Hartland has been nominated to attend the US Naval Academy in Annapolis MD, and the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.  Connor, the son of David and Rhonda Lewis, is a senior at Arrowhead High School.

Paul Noack of Hartland has been nominated to attend the US Military Academy in West Point, NY.  Paul, the son of Stephen and Elizabeth Noack, is a senior at Trinity Academy.  

Jonathan Novak of Brookfield has been nominated to attend the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.  Jonathan, the son of Christopher and Jodi Novak, is a senior at Brookfield Academy.

Joseph Porter of Pewaukee has been nominated to attend the US Military Academy in West Point, NY.  Joseph, the son of Mark and Cherie Porter, is a senior at Pewaukee High School.

Murphy Shannon of Waukesha has been nominated to attend the US Military Academy in West Point, NY, and the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.  Murphy, the son of James and Debra Shannon, is a senior at Lake Country Lutheran High School.

Christopher Wagner of Delafield has been nominated to attend the US Military Academy in West Point, NY.  Christopher, the son of Alfred and Susan Wagner, attends the US Military Academy Preparatory School.  

Carter Welsh of Menomonee Falls has been nominated to attend the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO, and the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.  Carter, the son of Patrick and Geralyn Welsh, is a senior at Menomonee Falls High School.
