Washington, Jun 26, 2012 -

Today the House passed by voice vote H.R. 4223, the Safe Doses Act, legislation introduced by Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI), Chair of the House Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security. The Safe Doses Act will fight medical theft and protect patients from using stolen and mishandled medical products that are resold into the market.

“I am happy that Congress took this important step to crack down on medical theft and protect patients from stolen and mishandled medical products resold back into the market. Drug theft is a serious threat to the public. Medical theft is a multi-million dollar criminal enterprise, often run by experienced, organized crime rings.  The Safe Doses Act will help our law enforcement to find and prosecute those who endanger countless lives through drug theft.”
