Washington, Apr 27, 2012 -

Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI) joined with Congressman Ron Kind (D-WI) in introducing a bill that would waive the time requirement on posthumously awarding the Medal of Honor to First Lieutenant Alonzo H. Cushing, who was born in Delafield, WI and died in the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863.

β€œI am proud to support this legislation to honor Lieutenant Cushing, an outstanding soldier from Wisconsin who deserves to be recognized for his bravery,” Sensenbrenner said. β€œHe was a courageous leader who gave his life to protect this country. I am hopeful that Lieutenant Cushing will be given the Medal of Honor for his heroic service during the Civil War. ”
