The House Judiciary Committee today voted unanimously in favor to pass H.R. 2572, the “Clean Up Government Act.” This bipartisan legislation is sponsored by Crime Subcommittee Chairman Sensenbrenner (R-WI) and Rep. Quigley (D-IL).

“If elected officials decide to profit from the trust they hold with their constituents, then the foundation of our democracy is weakened.  We must not allow public corruption to persist and infect our government. H.R. 2572 passed the Committee with bipartisan support today and will ensure that prosecutors and investigators have the tools they need to fully and effectively address public corruption.”

“We have too many examples of public corruption to know that the current tools are inadequate. This bill will clean up our government by restoring tools that have been eroded by the courts.”
