Sensenbrenner Applauds Senate Votes to End Ethanol Subsidies
Washington,
Jun 16, 2011 -
Please see this statement from Congressman Sensenbrenner on the Senate’s votes today to end ethanol subsidies.
“I was encouraged to see that there is a growing political will in Washington to cut off wasteful ethanol subsidies. This once sacred cow has been exposed for what it truly is- bad policy.
“Federal mandates to use ethanol blends haven’t reduced our dependence on foreign oil, and there are serious concerns regarding the negative impact of corn ethanol on the environment. Washington shouldn’t be in the business of picking winners and losers, and ethanol is not economically sustainable on its own.”

Rep. Sensenbrenner, the Vice-Chairman of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, has introduced HR 748, legislation to block the EPA from granting its approval to increase the ethanol blend from 10 to 15 percent.
