Brookfield,
Sep 8, 2010 -
Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner (R-Menomonee Falls), announced today that he is currently accepting applications from individuals who are interested in a nomination to attend the US Naval, Military, Air Force, or Merchant Marine Academies in the Summer of 2011.
United States citizens residing in Wisconsin’s Fifth Congressional District who are at least 17 years old, but not past their 23rd birthday as of July 1, 2011, and who have reached their senior year in high school, are invited to apply. The deadline for completed applications is Friday, October 15, 2010. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
Once a candidate has submitted their application, they will be interviewed by a member of the Congressman’s Academy Selection Committee, comprised of community leaders from around the area. The interview will be a complete assessment of the candidate’s character, motivation, interests, and leadership potential. The Congressman will make his nominations to the Academies based on the recommendations of his committee.
“Nominating talented young men and women from around the Fifth District is one of the many pleasures I get from being a Member of Congress,” said Sensenbrenner. “I encourage anyone who is interested and eligible to speak with their high school counselor, and apply for a nomination by contacting my District Office in Brookfield.”
