Brookfield, WI, Aug 11, 2010 -

Congressman F. James Sensenbrenner, Jr. (R- Menomonee Falls) made the following statement regarding the disaster declaration that was issued by President Obama:

“Now that President Obama has declared Milwaukee County eligible for Public Assistance, the County and its municipalities can work toward emergency repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the severe weather that pounded Southeast Wisconsin late last month.  This is welcome news and a positive start to the recovery process.

“Currently, a decision on the Governor’s request for Individual Assistance has not been made by the President, but I, along with a number of my colleagues, have urged the President to look favorably upon the request.

For More information, including the steps Milwaukee County and its municipalities must take to apply for Public Assistance, please see FEMA’s official announcement.
