Jun 2, 2010 -
Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI), will be awarding the Purple Heart Medal to Corporal Marshall Bautz, posthumously, on Thursday, June 3 at 10:30 a.m. at Old Schoolhouse Park in Whitefish Bay. It was 92 years ago, in 1918, while Marshall Bautz was serving with the American Expeditionary Forces in France during WWI, when he was wounded during combat. Bautz was cited for bravery, and suffered a head wound, three fractured ribs and a fractured knee.
Bautz passed away in 1968. His daughter, Elynn Bautz, began a search to find evidence to confirm the Purple Heart. The offices of Congressman Sensenbrenner and the Milwaukee County Veterans Services assisted her with the search. Elynn’s brother, Marshall Bautz II, will be accepting the medal from Congressman Sensenbrenner.
