Sensenbrenner Celebrates Grant Awards for Area Firefighters
Washington, DC, Oct 6 -
Menomonee Falls Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner is pleased to announce two grants awarded this week in the amount of $33,258 to the Boltonville Volunteer Fire Department, and $38,000 to the Merton Fire Department. The grants, which were made available by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistance to Firefighter Grants (AFG) Program, provide funding to these fire departments for operations and safety equipment.
The primary goal of the AFG is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and non-affiliated emergency medical services organizations. These grants help firefighters and first responders obtain equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training, and other critical resources needed to protect the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards.
“In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, it became clear that coordination between rescuers and maximizing resources is the key to saving lives when disasters occur,” said Sensenbrenner. “These grants provide the funding to make this possible in both Kewaskum and Boltonville. I applaud the DHS’ decision and I extend my heartiest congratulations to both fire departments for receiving this award.”
