Sensenbrenner Applauds Grant Award that Protects Area Police
Washington, DC, Oct 12 -
Menomonee Falls Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner is pleased to announce that the Department of Justice’s Bulletproof Vest Partnership Program (BVP) has allocated over $50,000 to help purchase bulletproof vests for 24 police and county sheriffs’ departments in the 5th District.
Grants from the BVP fund up to 50% of the cost of each vest purchased or replaced by law enforcement applicants. Congressman Sensenbrenner’s district received a large portion of funding due to the BVP’s policy to allocate at least half its funds to applications from police jurisdictions that cover populations of fewer than 100,000 people.
“I am pleased to learn that there are 24 jurisdictions in the Fifth District that will receive financial assistance through BVP funding,” said Sensenbrenner. “There is no question that bulletproof vests are instrumental in saving the lives of our policemen and women - not only do they allow our officers to more effectively do their jobs, they also help save the lives of the citizens they have promised to serve and protect.”
